THE PROBLEM
Generative AI content is exploding. The amount of AI generated content included in Google search results has roughly doubled in just one year, with 15% of all search results now containing sythentic content. A report by the European Law Enforcement Agency now says that up to 90% of all online content could be generated by AI by 2026.
However, here’s the problem - most of this content is uninspiring. It feels, at best, competent. It doesn’t connect with people. It lacks creativity and color. Generated by the same LLMs utilizing the same data, filtered through the same prompts - it’s generic and homogenous. People are increasingly tuning it out.
It’s going to get a lot worse.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Theory: as the use of poor, inauthentic gen AI content proliferates, the value of authentic content will only increase. How do we take advantage of this? How do we make this valuable “authentic” human-centered content?
Is the answer to somehow try to go back and reset the clock? To hide out in the woods and build everything with one’s bare hands?
Absolutely not. A hundred times no.
Even if one wanted to be a luddite, there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle. Oppenheimer has done his work. We need to live with it.
There’s a better way.
THE WAY FORWARD
At The Authentic, we’re, at heart, techno-optomists. We’ve spent our lives celebrating and leveraging technology - using it to tell better stories and reach more people. We believe that Generative AI, leveraged correctly, represents a once-in-a-generation sea-change in how content is going to be created and how it’s going to be consumed. AI, in short, is THE future and we couldn’t be more excited about it.
We’ve created this site to share ways that we think it can reach it’s potential for good by helping to foster what is already good about the best forms of communication - authenticity and human connection. We want to build a community and connect with others that feel the same and want to help built a better future - an authentic future - driven by technology.

To this end, we will be sharing thoughts, experiments and showcases that focus on our mission. If you're looking for a place that will boil the ocean and present the top 1000 AI tools out there or talk about what the latest foundation models mean for the industry, this is NOT it. We’re here to talk about how generative AI can be used to build authentic, human content. This is our scope. We will be focused on 2 areas in particular:
